Fast Food Shakeup: Portillo’s

Chicago fast food icon Portillo’s announced that Michael Osanloo, its president and CEO since October 2018, has resigned effective immediately.

Osanloo oversaw the company through its IPO and expansion to 96 locations.

In a statement, Osanloo said, “Leading Portillo’s has been one of the great honors of my career… I will always carry immense pride in having been part of the Portillo’s family.”

Michael Miles, Jr., longtime Chairman of the Board, has been appointed interim CEO.

Osanloo will remain with the company as a special advisor for 90 days to ensure a smooth transition.

Miles previously held leadership roles at Staples, Pizza Hut, and even served as Portillo’s interim CEO from 2014 to 2015.

The search for a permanent CEO is now underway.
