McDonald’s Faces Lawsuit Over What’s Really in the McRib

McRib or McFake. That is the question at the center of a new lawsuit.

McDonald’s is facing a federal class action suit that claims the chain misled customers into believing the McRib is made from real pork rib meat. The complaint was filed December 23 in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The lawsuit argues that the name and marketing of the McRib suggest a true rib cut. Plaintiffs claim the sandwich is actually made from restructured pork using various parts, not a rib.

McDonald’s strongly denies that claim.

A company spokesperson said the McRib uses 100 percent boneless pork, along with BBQ sauce, onions, and pickles. They also stated that no hearts, tripe, or stomach are used and that ingredient information has always been public.

The McRib first debuted in 1982 and still draws crowds whenever it returns.

Now a judge may decide what it really is. Per TheDailyBeast.com
