Dollar General Corporation recalled three lots of its eight ounce Clover Valley® Instant Coffee on August 11 due to the possible presence of glass.
According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the affected products were sold between July 9 and July 21, 2025, and were shipped to retail stores in 48 states including Illinois.
A customer noticed fragments of glass in the product and immediately contacted the company who then pulled it from shelves.
Per the FDA, "ingesting glass fragments may cause injury to the consumer, and these injuries may include damage to teeth, laceration of the mouth and throat, or perforation of the intestines." Consumers should avoid Clover Valley Instant Coffee products with UPC code 876941004069, lot numbers L-5163, L-5164, and L-5165, and best by dates 12/13/2026, 12/13/2026, and 12/14/2026. Customers who purchased this product should throw it out or call Dollar General at 1-888-309-9030 from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. CST to get a refund issued. The company is also available via email (customercare@dollargeneral.com) seven days a week.
Dollar General is actively investigating the issue.
