Over 40 important leaders in Chicago are working together on a big idea to make Downtown Chicago more exciting and full of life. Theyāre calling it a āCulture Stadium,ā and the goal is to bring more visitors, new neighbors, and fun activities to the area while making sure it stays strong for years to come.
This plan, shared on Tuesday during a City Club of Chicago event, is all about smart planning, adding cool cultural spots, and building a stronger community. Itās a way to bring more people Downtown and keep it a place everyone wants to visit and enjoy.
āOur Downtown is the heart that pumps the blood into all those different sectors of the city. Itās the engine that feeds our ability to fund South and West [sides]. We canāt ignore Downtown,ā said Lou Raizin, president and CEO of Broadway In Chicago, during the event. Raizin, along with Chris Jones, editorial page editor of the Chicago Tribune, is leading the initiative.
The plan underscores the crucial role Downtown plays in supporting Chicago's broader community and economy. Read more about the proposed transformation on CBS News Chicago.
